Watching your child or teen navigate mental health challenges can feel overwhelming. Maybe they’ve been in therapy before without seeing the progress you hoped for. Perhaps their anxiety or OCD is affecting the whole family, and despite everyone’s best efforts, lasting change feels out of reach.
This isn’t about effort. If managing these challenges were simply about trying harder, your child would have found relief by now. The issue isn’t motivation—it’s having the right strategy and evidence-based tools.
Our work centers on therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—research-backed methods that move beyond traditional talk therapy to create meaningful, lasting change for young people.
Through child therapy in Sudbury, we’ll work collaboratively with you and your child to move past stuck points, break unhelpful patterns, and take real steps toward the life your family wants to live.
Following a complimentary phone consultation, we’ll schedule your child’s Intake Assessment. Using both clinical measures and scientific research combined with clinical expertise, we gain a comprehensive understanding of your child’s context, symptoms, and how they’re affecting your family before developing a collaborative treatment plan.
You know your child best, so we’ll work alongside you from the very beginning. We’ll explain our treatment recommendations and ensure they make sense for your child’s unique needs. While each plan is individualized and evidence-based—guided by symptoms, diagnosis, and research on effective outcomes—treatment length varies based on your child’s response, family preferences, and treatment goals.
We work with children and teens experiencing:
“You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress.”

We specialize in Third Wave (Mindfulness-Based) therapies adapted for young people, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). We also provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders. Our approach is evidence-based, collaborative, and customized to each child or teen’s developmental stage and unique needs.
Therapy duration varies for each young person. Some children and teens experience improvement within a few months, while others benefit from extended support. We continuously assess progress and adjust treatment accordingly, keeping parents informed throughout the process.
This is common, especially with teens. We can start by meeting with you to understand the challenges and develop strategies for engagement. Often, as young people understand that therapy isn’t about being “fixed” but about gaining tools and moving toward what matters to them, resistance decreases.
The initial session is a thorough intake where we explore your child’s history, current challenges, and therapy goals. For younger children, parents are typically present for some or half of the session. For teens, we may meet with parents first and then spend time alone with your teen. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions and determine if we’re the right fit for your family.
Exposure therapy involves intentionally and gradually engaging with situations or thoughts your child has been avoiding while developing mindfulness and acceptance skills. Rather than forcing your child to face their fears, ACT-informed ERP helps them develop a different relationship with anxiety, making choices aligned with their values. We move at your child’s pace, and while initial discomfort is normal, they’ll learn new ways of relating to anxiety that empower them to move forward in meaningful ways.
Most children and teens begin with weekly sessions. As your child progresses, we may transition to biweekly meetings or less frequent check-ins based on their needs and treatment goals.
