When your family feels stuck, finding the right support matters.

When your family feels stuck, finding the right support matters.

Maybe communication has broken down completely. Perhaps anxiety or OCD is affecting everyone in the household. Or conflict has become the norm, and you’re not sure how to find your way back to connection.

This isn’t about blame. Couples and families get stuck when they don’t have the right tools to navigate challenges together. The issue isn’t effort—it’s having an evidence-based approach that addresses the whole family system.

With couples or family therapy in Sudbury tailored to your unique needs, we’ll work together to develop practical tools that create real, sustainable change for everyone.

How Couples/family Therapy Sudbury Works

Our Process

Intake Assessment

Following a complimentary phone consultation, we’ll schedule your Intake Assessment. Using both clinical measures and scientific research combined with clinical expertise, we gain a comprehensive understanding of your family’s context and challenges before developing a collaborative treatment plan.

Treatment Planning

Your family’s input guides the process from day one. We’ll explain our treatment recommendations and ensure they resonate with your family’s needs. While each plan is individualized and evidence-based—guided by symptoms, diagnosis, and research on effective outcomes—treatment length varies based on family preferences, progress, and goals.

“Third Wave” Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – ACT supports couples and families in developing psychological flexibility through mindfulness and values-driven action, helping you move beyond unhelpful thoughts and emotions toward a more meaningful life together.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – DBT equips youth and their families with practical skills for managing intense emotions, strengthening relationships, and navigating difficult moments through mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and effective communication.
  • Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP) and Anti-Accommodation– ERP is a proven treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders and families learn to support their loved one in gradually approaching feared situations while resisting compulsive behaviors. Because partners and families find it so hard to see their loved one with anxiety or OCD suffering, they tend to accommodate compulsive behavior, and therefore families need to learn anti-accommodation strategies.
  • ACT-informed ERP – We combine Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with ERP to strengthen treatment outcomes. This integrated approach uses mindfulness and acceptance to help families willingly engage with anxiety-provoking situations, building psychological flexibility and creating sustainable change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance & Fees

I am an Out-of-Network (OON) provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly. However, many insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement for therapy services. I can provide you with a superbill (a detailed invoice) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

If you’re unsure about your benefits, you can call your insurance provider and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
  • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
  • How do I submit a claim for reimbursement?

My session fees range from $200 to $400 depending on the length of service and the type of service. Typical fees are listed below:

  • Initial Intake Session (60 minutes): $300
  • Individual Therapy (50 minutes): $275
  • Extended Sessions (80 minutes): $400

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept [credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and other payment methods].

I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship. If cost is a concern, please reach out to discuss options or referrals to lower-cost providers.

Under the No Surprises Act, by law, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost from providers who don’t bill insurance. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

About Therapy & The Process

We provide comprehensive sudbury mental health services specializing in Third Wave (Mindfulness-Based) therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). We also provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, anxiety disorders, and related challenges. Our approach is evidence-based, collaborative, and customized to each family’s unique situation.

Therapy is highly individualized. Some clients see improvement in a couple of months, while others may benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly assess progress and adjust our work accordingly.

The initial session is a thorough intake where we explore your family’s history, current challenges, and therapy goals. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions and determine if we’re the right fit for your family.

Exposure therapy involves intentionally and gradually approaching situations or thoughts you’ve been avoiding, while practicing mindfulness and acceptance skills. Rather than fighting anxiety or fear, ACT-informed ERP helps you become more open to these difficult feelings, making choices guided by your personal values. While you might initially feel uncomfortable, you’ll learn to relate differently to anxiety, empowering you to move forward in ways that truly matter to you.

Most clients start with weekly sessions. Over time, depending on your progress and needs, we may shift to biweekly or less frequent check-ins.

That’s completely understandable. We offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your concerns, answer questions, and help you decide if therapy is the right fit.
